Fule concerned about the political situation in FYROM

FYROM, Skopje, December 3, 2013

EU enlargement commissioner, Stefan Fule has expressed his concern about the political developments in FYROM and its path toward Euro Atlantic integrations.

“I’m concerned about the domestic political situation in FYROM, about tensions between the government and opposition and the lack of results about the issue of the name dispute in the talks led by UNO”, declared European commissioner Fule in the “Western Balkan: The slow and fast line” conference taken place in Brussels.

As far as European integration is concerned, Fule said that he expects from EU countries to support the European perspective of FYROM in the European Council Summit. According to him, for the fifth time in a row, the European Commission recommended the opening of negotiations for the accession of FYROM, but he said that everyone is now waiting to see what the European Council says.

“I don’t think it’s necessary to repeat the recommendation for the start of negotiations for accession, in order for member countries to promise once again that they will come back to this issue during their EU presidency”, declared EU enlargement commissioner, Stefan Fule.

Fule said that this time, European Commission demands from member countries to say what they require about this issue. /ibna/
