FYROM: Η ονομασία στη συνάντηση Φαμπιούς- Πόποσκι.

Για την εσωτερική κατάσταση στην ΠΓΔΜ, καθώς και για το ζήτημα της ονομασίας με την Ελλάδα ενημέρωσε τον Γάλλο ομόλογό του Λοράν Φαμπιούς, ο υπουργός Εξωτερικών της ΠΓΔΜ Νίκολα Πόποσκι.

«Πιστεύουμε ότι η Γαλλία θα μπορούσε να βοηθήσει πολύ στην άρση της παρεμπόδισης της πορείας προς την ευρωπαϊκή μας ενσωμάτωση» ανέφερε ο Νίκολα Πόποσκι.

Οι υπουργοί Εξωτερικών της Γαλλίας και της ΠΓΔΜ, όπως αναφέρεται στην ανακοίνωση του υπουργείου Εξωτερικών της ΠΓΔΜ, εξέφρασαν την ικανοποίησή τους για «την επανεπικαιροποιημένη ενεργό δέσμευση της Γαλλίας στα Βαλκάνια, με στόχο τη διευκόλυνση της διαδικασίας ευρωπαϊκής ενσωμάτωσης των υποψήφιων προς ένταξη στην ΕΕ χωρών».

•  FYROM Minister Poposki Meets French Counterpart Fabius at Quai d'Orsay...

Continuing his ongoing working visit to France, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the FYROM, had a meeting this afternoon with his French counterpart Laurent Fabius, who received him with the highest honours at the French Foreign Ministry’s headquarters at Quai d'Orsay in Paris. Over the course of their meeting, the French Foreign Minister took a great interest in the information that Minister Poposki presented to him over the current state of affairs in the FYROM, the latest set of developments with regard to FYROM’s EU aspirations, the bilateral economic cooperation between FYROM and France and the current status regarding the country’s name dispute with the Hellenic Republic and the inability to move forward with its EU accession even in spite of its remarkable achievements in that respect that the European Commission clearly acknowledged in its consecutive Reports on the progress that the country has achieved in its EU accession process. On that note, the chiefs of FYROM and French diplomacies voiced their satisfaction with the positive momentum that the bilateral cooperation between FYROM and France has been generating over this last year with French Minister Fabius taking the opportunity to reaffirm to Minister Poposki France’s active engagement in the Balkans which, as he has underlined, is aimed at supporting and facilitating the European integration of the EU candidate countries from the region. Following up on those points, Minister Fabius reemphasized the commitments that France expressed to the region’s EU candidate countries in that regard at this summer’s Brdo Summit when French President Hollande pledged his support to the aforementioned countries in trying to move the process of their EU integration forward.  

Minister Poposki, on his part, called for France and French companies increasing the number of their investments in FYROM which, as he has underlined, are vital to the country’s economic development. Furthermore, the chief of FYROM diplomacy called for the International Organization of La Francophonie raising the level of its engagement in FYROM by opening a French High-School in the country’s capital, Skopje.

“We feel that France could provide a unique contribution and offer its valuable assistance to FYROM in trying to unblock its road to EU accession,” Minister Poposki pointed out to his French host. “FYROM is both deserving and prepared to start accession negotiations with the Union which are, in any case, bound to take quite a long time to be completed one way or the other and even when they have finished, it would still take for 28 national parliaments to ratify the country’s accession treaty one by one,” Poposki added.

Bringing his discussion with Minister Poposki to a close, French Minister Fabius also made a pledge to his FYROM guest that France will pay special attention to the issues raised at their meeting today which, seeing as a meeting of this scope and magnitude between the two countries’ Foreign Ministers had not taken place for almost an entire decade, has now taken on a that much greater importance.
