Στο πλαίσιο των προσπαθειών του
Υπουργείου Εξωτερικών για τον εντοπισμό και την απελευθέρωση των
Ελληνορθόδοξου και Συρορθόδοξου Μητροπολιτών Χαλεπίου κ.κ. Παύλου και
Γρηγόριου Yohanna Ibrahim, αντιστοίχως, που έχουν απαχθεί στη Συρία, ο
Υπουργός Εξωτερικών Δημήτρης Αβραμόπουλος συγκάλεσε σήμερα νέα σύσκεψη
στο Υπουργείο Εξωτερικών, προκειμένου να αξιολογηθούν τα δεδομένα και να
καθορισθούν τα επόμενα βήματα και ενέργειες της ελληνικής πλευράς.
Από την πρώτη στιγμή που γνωστοποιήθηκε η απαγωγή των δύο Μητροπολιτών, ο Υπουργός Εξωτερικών βρίσκεται σε διαρκή επικοινωνία με ομολόγους του, στο πλαίσιο της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης και του ΝΑΤΟ, αλλά και των χωρών της περιοχής. Ο κ. Αβραμόπουλος έχει επίσης τακτική επαφή με τον Πατριάρχη Αντιοχείας κ. Ιωάννη, καθώς και με τον ηγέτη της Συριακής Αντιπολίτευσης George Sabra και με παράγοντες στην περιοχή, προκειμένου να ενταθούν και συντονισθούν οι προσπάθειες για την απελευθέρωση των δύο Μητροπολιτών.

Ο Μηχανισμός Διαχείρισης Κρίσεων του Υπουργείου Εξωτερικών, το δίκτυο του οποίου ενεργοποιήθηκε άμεσα, συλλέγει κάθε διαθέσιμη πληροφορία, η οποία μπορεί να συμβάλει στον εντοπισμό των απαχθέντων ενώ οι Πρεσβείες της Ελλάδας στη Μέση Ανατολή βρίσκονται σε επαφή με τις Κυβερνήσεις των χωρών της περιοχής.
Επισημαίνεται ότι μέχρι στιγμής, οι πληροφορίες που έχουν δει το φως της δημοσιότητας σχετικά με την υπόθεση δεν έχουν επιβεβαιωθεί. Κατά συνέπεια, απαιτείται ιδιαίτερη προσοχή κατά την αξιολόγηση και διαχείρισή τους.

Υφυπουργός στη Βηρυττό με ειδική αποστολή τη διάσωση των Μητροπολιτών....Με εντολή Αβραμόπουλου....
ReplyDeleteΓια να παρακολουθεί εκ του σύνεγγυς τις προσπάθειες διάσωσης των δύο απαχθέντων Μητροπολιτών, με εντολή του υπουργού εξωτερικών Δημήτρη Αβραμόπουλου, μετέβη στη Βηρυττό ο υφυπουργός Εξωτερικών Κωνσταντίνος Τσιάρας.
Η παρουσία του κ.Τσιάρα στην πρωτεύουσα του Λιβάνου κρίθηκε σκόπιμη για να βρίσκεται στην ευρύτερη περιοχή, να έχει σειρά επαφών και διαβουλεύσεων και να συντονίζει τις προσπάθειες ανεύρεσης και απελευθέρωσης των δύο απαχθέντων Μητροπολιτών Χαλεπίου.

Rai calls for release of Syrian bishops....
ReplyDeleteBEIRUT: Maronite Cardinal Beshara Rai called Saturday for the release of two Syrian bishops who were abducted earlier this week.
“I urge those concerned to release kidnapped bishops Boulos Yaziji and Yuhanna Ibrahim,” Rai said during a speech he made at a church in Argentine leg of his Latin American tour.
Ibrahim, the Syriac Orthodox bishop, and Yazigi, Aleppo’s Greek Orthodox bishop, were kidnapped Monday by armed men en route from the Turkish border.
The bishops’ precise location and the identity of the kidnappers remain unknown.

U.S. renews call for release of Syrian bishops.....

U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Maura Connelly renewed Tuesday her government’s call for the release of the two bishops recently kidnapped by gunmen in Syria, following a meeting with Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All the East John X.
“Connelly condemned in the strongest terms the kidnapping of the patriarch’s brother, Archbishop Metropolitan Paul [Yazigi] of Aleppo, and Syriac Orthodox Archbishop ... Yohanna Ibrahim of Aleppo, and repeats the United States’ call for their immediate release,” a U.S. Embassy statement said.
Yazigi, Aleppo’s Greek Orthodox archbishop, and Ibrahim were kidnapped on April 22 by armed men as they were en route to the northern city from the Turkish border.
The bishops’ precise location and the identity of the kidnappers remain unknown.
Connelly also conveyed the U.S.’ continued support of the Syrian people and underscored the importance of the Geneva communiqué as a basis to realize a peaceful transition through dialogue.
“She reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to a democratic and pluralistic Syria that represents and protects the rights of all its people,” the statement said.
Connelly also stressed the United States’ support for the principle of human and religious rights, including the rights of minorities, and emphasized “the important and enduring role Christians continue and must play in the region in concert with other religious groups.”

Abducted Syrian bishops in good health, held by rebels.....
ReplyDeleteBEIRUT: Acting President of the Syrian National Council George Sabra said Wednesday that the two Greek Orthodox bishops kidnapped in Syria are being held in a small village north west of Aleppo by a rebel group.
In a telephone conversation with Kataeb Party leader Amin Gemayel, Sabra said that Aleppo’s Greek Orthodox Archbishop Boulos Yazigi and Syriac Orthodox Archbishop Yohanna Ibrahim were both in good health and still in the custody of a small group of rebels in the Syrian town of Bshaqtin.
“The bishops are in good health and are being held by a small group in a town called Bshaqtin, 20 kilometers north west of Aleppo,” Sabra told Gemayel who was in a meeting with Syriac Orthodox bishops at the Kataeb Party’s headquarters in Saifi, according to Gemayel’s office.
Yazigi and Ibrahim were kidnapped last month by armed men while they were on their way to Aleppo from the Turkish border.
The meeting in Saifi was attended by Mount Lebanon’s Syriac Orthodox Bishop George Saliba, Beirut Bishop Daniel Koriyeh, Syriac League President Habib Efram and the Deputy Bishop of Aleppo Joseph Shabo.
Bishop Saliba also spoke to the Syrian opposition leader over the phone and urged him to secure the release of the kidnapped bishops.
When contacted by The Daily Star contacted, Sabra declined to comment on the matter.
Speaking during the meeting in Saifi, Gemayel said that the abduction of the two bishops constitutes a bad message to the Christian communities in Syria and the region.
For his part, Saliba said that fear might overwhelm Christians in the region if the bishops are not released. “I don’t know whether the Christians would leave the region because of this or stay and react to this kidnapping in a way that we do not want,” Saliba added.

Σημάδια ζωής για τους απαχθέντες μητροπολίτες....Δεκαέξι μέρες μετά την απαγωγή, ο ηγέτης της συριακής αντιπολίτευσης αποκάλυψε που βρίσκονται οι Μητροπολίτες...
DeleteΣύμφωνα με δημοσίευμα της λιβανέζικης εφημερίδας Daily Star που αναπαράγεται στην ιστοσελίδα dogma.gr, o αναπληρωτής πρόεδρος του Συριακού Εθνικού Συμβουλίου George Sabra δήλωσε σήμερα ότι οι δύο Επίσκοποι κρατούνται στο χωριό Bshaqtin βορειοδυτικά του Χαλεπίου από μια ομάδα ανταρτών.
Όπως υποστήριξε η ίδια πηγή, οι δύο Μητροπολίτες είναι καλά στην υγεία τους.
Ο Συρο-Ιακωβίτης Μητροπολίτης του Όρους Λιβάνου Γεώργιος, που μίλησε επίσης με τον ηγέτη της συριακής αντιπολίτευσης Sabra ζήτησε από την συγκεκριμένη οργάνωση να φροντίσει για την ασφαλή απελευθέρωση των Μητροπολιτών.
