Lavrov, Kerry said the need to block the Syrian-Turkish border

The Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov held a telephone conversation with U.S. Secretary of state John Kerry. During the conversation held on the initiative of the American side, the diplomats, in particular, discussed the Syrian issue. This is stated in a message posted on website the Russian foreign Ministry on Sunday, may 29.

Lavrov once again pointed to the need to close the border between Syria and Turkey. This, in his opinion, will help to stop the flow of "fighters". In addition, the Russian Minister reminded of the promise of Washington “about the disassociation of groups associated with the United States to the Syrian opposition from the terrorists of “Jabhat EN-Nusra” (banned in Russia), on which the truce does not apply”.

The head of the Russian foreign Ministry has repeatedly proposed to close the Syrian-Turkish border. At the beginning of December last year, Lavrov said that this may be involved, the Kurds and U.S. special forces. This is done, however, must be with the consent of the official Damascus.

A similar statement by Lavrov sounded and 27 November. Then the head of the Russian foreign Ministry expressed confidence that the border closure will help “to eradicate terrorism on Syrian territory”.

In addition, in Turkey were accused in trade with the militants of the “Islamic state” (organization banned in Russia), which control part of the Syrian territory. In particular, the representative of Russia to the UN Vitaly Churkin in April, sent to the UN security Council a letter, stating that Turkey is the main supplier of weapons and military equipment to terrorists.
