Kiev sent a note of protest to the German FM after the visit of German politicians in the Crimea

Ukraine sent a protest note to the German foreign Ministry after the visit of two members of the party “Alternative for Germany” — Marcus Premiere (Markus Frohnmaier) and Marcus Pretzel (Marcus Pretzell) — in Crimea without the consent of Kiev. On Saturday, April 23, according to Der Spiegel.

“Illegal entry into the territory of the Crimea is not a trifle, but a serious offence” — leads the publication the words of the Ambassador of Ukraine in Berlin Andriy Melnyk.

14-15 April, Frontier and Pretzel visited the Crimea for participation in the second international Yalta economic forum. Only the forum was attended by around 70 foreign participants from 26 States, among them two MEPs, one of whom was Pretzel.

Pretzel is in the European Parliament pravopopulistskie the party “Alternative for Germany”. Frontier is Chairman of the youth organization of the party, to support the Russian party “United Russia”. According to the publication Der Spiegel, Wednesday, April 20, the youth wing of the “Alternative for Germany” have agreed to cooperate with the activists of the public organization “Young guard of United Russia”.

• Earlier, on April 1, the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ukraine has condemned a visit to Crimea by a group of Greek businessmen headed by the member of the Council for the development of tourism of the municipality of Corinth by Georgios Iosifidis. In a statement the Agency stated that Kiev considers this trip “as a manifestation of disrespect towards the sovereignty of Ukraine”. The foreign Ministry also expressed hope “the appropriate reaction” of the official circles of the Hellenic Republic.

Crimea became part of Russia in March 2014 after the referendum in which over 95 per cent of residents who took part in voting, supported this decision. Kiev continues to regard the region as a “temporarily occupied territory”. Moscow insists that the reunification of the Crimea with Russia was in full compliance with international law.
