When asked about the possible use of chlorine in Syria during a joint news conference with Pentagon head Chuck Hagel, Yaalon replied that 'we still see it now.'
The US defense chief abstained from comments.
A number of high-ranking officials, including US Secretary of State John Kerry and French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius, claimed earlier this month that the Syrian government allegedly used chemical weapons against opposition forces in Syria.
Under a deal brokered by Moscow and Washington last year, Syria agreed to destroy its chemical weapons stockpile. The agreement allowed the Syrian government to stave off the threat of a US air strike.
The United Nations and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons established in October last year a joint mission to eradicate Syria's chemical arsenal in the safest and most secure manner possible.
The country had already deployed 92 percent of its stockpile.
The US and its allies have supported Syrian opposition during ongoing civil war that had broken out in the country following unrest that swept the Arab world three years ago.
According to United Nations' estimates, over 150,000 people have died in the conflict, which has seen fierce battles between the Syrian army and Islamist militants, including foreign mercenaries and al-Qaeda-affiliated groups.
Over 2.3 million Syrian citizens have been forced to flee the country.
Moscow has repeatedly voiced concerns over the actions of illegal armed groups in Syria, pointing out that some of them have links to international radical Islamic organizations.
