Syria says it now controls 98 percent of east Aleppo

Syrian state-run media and Russian officials said the eastern section of the city of Aleppo is 98 percent controlled by forces allied to President Bashar al-Assad.

The state-run Syrian Arab News Agency, or SANA, said more than 3,500 people left the Aleppo's eastern neighborhoods on Monday through corridors created for safe passage.

SANA said the Russian Coordination Center reported 728 terror/rebels surrendered.
