Socialist candidate Igor Dodon led in Moldova's presidential runoff on Sunday, gaining 55.03 percent of votes, while his rival Maia Sandu got 44.97 percent, after 97.21 percent of the votes were counted, according to the Central Election Commission.

Ukraine withdraws from 5 military accords with Russia.

The Ukrainian Parliament on Thursday voted to unilaterally scrap five agreements with Russia on military cooperation, the Parliament's press service said.

The lawmakers voted to withdraw from the agreement on cooperation in military intelligence and in mutual protection of classified information.

The United States’ actions might contribute to the escalation of hostilities in Ukraine, Russia’s Ambassador to the United Nations Vitaly Churkin said on Wednesday. He told a UN Security Council meeting that the deterioration of the situation [in Ukraine] has “miraculously” coincided with a visit to Kiev by US Army Europe Commander Ben Hodges.

Transdniestria insists on bilateral talks with Moldova

The foreign minister of the unrecognized Republic of Transdniestria, Nina Shtanski, said on Thursday that Transdniestria should continue bilateral talks with Moldova despite a pause in consultations held in an expanded format.
“We are committed to dialogue no matter how complicated it can be. On the contrary, we keep asking our Moldovan colleagues to continue meeting at a bilateral level. We will continue inviting participants in the “5+2” negotiations (Moldova and Transdniestria as the sides in conflict; the OSCE as an intermediary; Russia and Ukraine as guarantor countries and brokers as well as observers from the European Union and the United States) to our meetings,” Shtanski told journalists.
