Stoltenberg: NATO's Already Decided to Make Ukraine, Georgia Members

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has stated that the alliance has already made the decision that Ukraine and Georgia will become members of the bloc. In an interview for the Italian news outlet La Repubblica, Stoltenberg said that the decision had been made in 2008 during a summit of NATO states.

Ukraine does not seek immediate NATO membership (official)

Although Ukraine has officially abandoned its non-aligned status, it is not seeking immediate membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), an official from the country's Foreign Ministry said Wednesday.

EU, NATO cannot provide military aid to Ukraine (Finnish PM)

The European Union and NATO cannot provide military aid to Ukraine, Finnish Prime Minister Alexander Stubb said on Yle TV on Monday.

“This (military aid provision) is, naturally, impossible. NATO offers such aid only to its members, which is well known, and the EU has no resources for such aid,” he said.

On Sunday, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said in an interview to the Deutschlandfunk radio station that the EU and NATO should provide military aid to Kiev.

German chancellor Merkel is optimistic about the solution of the name dispute (FYROM news)

German chancellor, Angela Merkel declared today that the name dispute between FYROM and Greece must be resolved and according to her, this is the only way that FYROM can become a NATO and European Union (EU) member country.

“The unresolved name dispute between Skopje and Athens is a burden for us. I’m optimistic that a solution can be achieved for this”, said the German chancellor, Angela Merkel today in Dubrovnik in front of the participants in the “Brdo-Brion Process”.

Georgia unprepared for NATO membership (Irakly Alasaniya, defense minister)

...Minister Irakly Alasaniya said his country needs some time "to be completely ready for a full-fledged NATO membership in terms of the country’s political system, security measures and defense level", TASS reports.

"Georgia is not ready for this [NATO membership] and we speak currently about further steps for the country to be taken toward integration with NATO," Alasaniya said commenting on a statement delivered earlier in the month by NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen.

Hungarian PM urges talks to admit F.Y.R.O.M. to NATO, EU (FYROM Propaganda)

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban called for urgent talks aimed at admitting F.Y.R.O.M. to NATO and the European Union (EU), in an address on Wednesday, local wire service MTI reported.

Orban was speaking at an award ceremony after receiving the United FYROM Diaspora's Gotse Delchev award, granted to people who have helped promote the country and FYROM people with their actions.

NATO Foreign Ministers have agreed that the Alliance’s door remains open to new members, NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said Wednesday (25 June 2014) at the start of the second day of ministerial talks. The Secretary General said that September’s Wales Summit “will mark the success” of NATO’s Open Door Policy and maintain its momentum. “Let me be clear: NATO’s door remains open and no third country has a veto over NATO enlargement.”
