Russian troops in the Kherson direction will take up defense along the left bank of the Dnieper River, Commander of the Joint Group of Forces of the Russian Federation Sergei Surovikin told Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu on November 9. The maneuver will be carried out as soon as possible.
The head of the Ministry of Defense ordered to begin the withdrawal of Russian troops and take all measures for the safe transfer of personnel and weapons.
"The formations and units will occupy defensive lines and positions prepared in engineering respect on the left bank of the Dnieper River," Surovikin said.
Surovikin said that the occupation of defense along the left bank of the Dnieper River would allow the RF Armed Forces to save the lives of Russian servicemen and the combat effectiveness of the group.
"Part of the forces and means will be released, which will be used for active operations, including offensive ones, in other directions in the operation zone," Surovikin said.
