US asks Kiev and Eurepean allies to be more cautious about Poland incident — newspaper

US officials for the past two days have appealed to European leaders and the entourage of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, urging them to be careful in their comments about the causes of the missile incident in Poland, the Politico newspaper reported on Thursday, citing sources.

According to the newspaper, in a series of telephone conversations, US officials demanded that their NATO allies refrain from making categorical statements until Warsaw completed its investigation into the incident.

As the newspaper noted, Kiev did not want to take responsibility for what had happened. According to Politico, the US had to insist on closer coordination on the issue of public statements about the incident because of Zelensky's claims that the missile that fell in Poland was not Ukrainian.
