Polish Prosecutor’s Office to bar Ukraine from taking part in missile strike probe

The Polish Prosecutor’s Office will not agree to allow Ukraine to participate in its probe into a missile strike in the east of the country, the Rzeczpospolita newspaper reported on Monday.

"There is no such legal option. It would be contrary to procedure, not to mention the interests of the investigation, which considers all possibilities, including that a Ukrainian air defense missile could have fallen," the newspaper quoted its source as saying.

The newspaper points to the fact that Polish politicians are behaving "strangely," saying that the US side is involved in the investigation, while the Ukrainian side can become a party to it within the framework of its so-called request for legal assistance. The US is participating only because classified data from the AWACS intelligence system is shared, the paper stresses.
