At Least 252 Dead In Indonesia Earthquake, 377 Injured, more than 31 are missing

 

 UPDATE 22.11.2022 Death toll from Indonesian earthquake rises to 252 — Reuters:
The death toll from a 5.6-magnitude earthquake in Indonesia on November 21 has reached 252, Reuters reported on Tuesday, citing Indonesian authorities.

According to them, 31 people are still missing and at least 377 have been injured. It is also reported that the number of people displaced because of the aftermath of the eartquake has reached over 7,000 people.

UPDATE 8 The shallow 5.6-magnitude earthquake killed at least 162 people, with hundreds injured and others missing, when it toppled buildings and triggered landslides on Indonesia’s main island of Java on Monday, officials said. Doctors treated patients outdoors after the quake, which was felt as far away as the capital Jakarta, left hospitals in the West Java town of Cianjur without power for several hours.

“I regret to inform that 162 are dead. 326 are injured with most of them sustained fractures from being crushed in ruins,” Ridwan Kamil, governor of worst-hit province West Java, told a press conference in a video seen by AFP. He said most of the victims were children. Adam, spokesman for the local administration in Cianjur town, who like many Indonesians goes by one name, confirmed the toll to AFP.

UPDATE 7  More than 160 people have been killed in a 5.6-magnitude earthquake that hit Indonesia’s West Java province on Monday at 1:21 p.m. local time, according to local officials.

Disaster management officials in Cianjur regency, near the epicenter of the quake, released a statement late Monday saying that at least 162 people died and hundreds more were injured in the disaster, believed to be the deadliest this year in Indonesia, an earthquake-prone country. This marked a significant jump from figures released earlier in the day and reflected ongoing efforts to extract victims from the rubble.....
