Explosion hits Shia mosque in Afghanistan’s Kandahar | Al Jazeera

An explosion has gone off inside a Shia mosque in Afghanistan’s southern city of Kandahar, according to security sources.



The blast at the mosque in the centre of the city took place during Friday prayers, raising fears of casualties.

Al menos 7 personas han muerto y otras 13 han resultado heridas por una explosión registrada este viernes en la mezquita Imán Bargah, en Kandahar (Afganistán), informan medios locales.

La explosión, que sacudió el templo religioso durante las oraciones del viernes, tuvo lugar en una mezquita perteneciente a miembros de la comunidad chií, aseguran fuentes policiales. De momento, nadie ha reivindicado la autoría del atentado.

 Les explosions ont touché le lieu de culte chiite, située dans le centre de Kandahar, au moment de la grande prière hebdomadaire du vendredi. Elles ont fait au moins 7 morts et de nombreux blessés.

    Two explosions hit the Imam Bargah Fatimiah mosque while Shiite worshippers were gathering at a packed Friday prayers, leaving local media reporting multiple casualties, although the exact number is not yet known and expected to rise.

    Some media outlets reported that at least 32 people were killed and over 50 were injured, also adding that at least three explosions took place at the entrance to the mosque.

    The cause of the blasts have not been confirmed but it is thought to have been a suicide bombing.
