In a post in his page at a social network on Monday, Velayati lauded the IRGC for the “valuable and formidable” measure to hit Daesh targets in Syria from inside Iran.
The attack was a small sample of Iran’s great deterrence and defense power, Velayati said, stressing that reactions to the enemies could be much more devastating.
He added that the missile attack has sent the message that “the world’s most independent country would respond decisively to ill-wishers, terrorists and its enemies wherever they are.”
Late on Sunday, the IRGC fired six missiles, including high-precision Zolfaqar missiles, at various targets in Syria’s eastern region of Deir ez-Zor within a range of 650 to 700 kilometers.
The missile raid, described by the IRGC as a successful operation, was in retaliation for a recent terrorist attack in Tehran claimed by Daesh.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry affirmed on Monday that the targeting of terrorists’ sites in Deir Ezzor by Iran was in coordination with the Syrian government and within the context of Iran’s firm policy of fighting terrorism.
ReplyDeleteIranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi said that the targeting of terrorist sites in Deir Ezzor was carried out with the prior knowledge of Syrian government and within the framework of the principled and firm policy of Iran in combating takfiri Wahhabi movements.
He added that the Deir Ezzor operation was just a “small slap” and a warning to those who cannot or do not want to understand the realities of the region and do not know their limits.
He asserted that the fight against terrorism is part of the defense of the security and stability of the region and the security of Iran, which will spare no effort in fighting terrorists and will not compromise when it comes to defending its stability and security.

ReplyDeleteMissile attack against Daesh positions in Syria was an assuring message to the Resistance Front and an emphasis on Iran's resolution in pursuing its fight on terrorism and its ability to respond threats quickly, Iran’s former envoy to Syria said Monday.
Islamic Revolution Guard Corps announced last night that the terrorist group's bastions in eastern Syrian Deir Ez-Zor Province were targeted in missile strikes to take revenge the deadly attacks in Tehran.
The twin terrorist attacks in Iran's parliament (Majlis) and Imam Khomeini Mausoleum on June 7, which were claimed by the ISIL, left 18 people killed.
'The first message of the attack was that Iran is serious in defending its security, and the second was that the country is ready and will respond quickly to any aggression against its security and interests at any spot and time,' Mohammad Reza Raouf Sheybani told Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).
Iran's move in deploying guards of holy shrines to Syria and Iraq is in accordance with the policy of taking preventive measures to confront the threats against its national security threats within or outside its borders, according to the diplomat.
'If the forces do not confront the threats outside the country, they would emerge within the borders, in our towns and cities,' the former Iranian ambassador to Damascus asserted.
