Taiwan's coast guard said Saturday its officers shot and wounded two Chinese fishermen, and arrested another five over trespassing into Taiwanese waters near the Penghu archipelago, the latest incident to take place at a time of heightened tensions between Beijing and Taipei.
The Taiwanese coast guard officers opened fire with rubber bullets when the Chinese ship tried to flee after being ordered to stop for inspection, the coast guard said in a statement.
