Strategic bombers hit positions for ISIS, Jabhat al-Nusra in Syria: Russian MoD

Russian Defense Ministry announced on Thursday that strategic bombers of Russian air force directed airstrikes with Kaliber missiles against sites for ISIS and Jabhat al-Nusra in Syria.

“The strategic bombers took off from one of the airports located in the Russian territories and the Kaliber missiles were launched form the air over the Mediterranean zone,” the Russian defense Ministry said in a statement.

It added the airstrikes targeted command centers for terrorists and their warehouses, ammunition and factories for manufacturing weapons, affirming that the coordinates of all targets were verified.

The statement said that Su-33 fighters and warplanes from Hmeimem air base participated in the operation, adding that Su-30 fighters covered the operations.

The Russian Defense Ministry has affirmed earlier the killing of more than 30 terrorists of Jabhat al-Nusra in raids by the Russian air force on their positions in Idleb.
