Iran arrests 12 officials involved in nuclear talks for suspected spying: report

Twelve Iranian officials who held key positions in the negotiation of the landmark nuclear accord reached with world powers last year have been arrested on suspicion of espionage, according to a report by Al-Arabiya citing an Iranian lawmaker.

MP Hussein Ali Haji Degana, a member of Iran's opposition, demanded that the rulings and proceedings against the suspects be delivered with full transparency.

Degana called on the identities of those detained to be made public. According to the report, some of them hold dual citizenships.

Iran's Minister of Intelligence Mahmoud Alavi and other officials had previously denied that any dual nationals had been a part of the Iranian negotiating team.

One of Iran's chief negotiators Abdol Rasul Dori Esfahani, however, was arrested soon after his family moved to Canada amid allegations that he held dual citizenship.
