Albania, Germany agree on recognition of pension rights

Officials of the Albanian Ministry of Social Welfare and German Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs signed here Wednesday an agreement on "Social Protection between the Republic of Albania and the Federal Republic of Germany".

Albanian Minister of Social Welfare and Youth Blendi Klosi underlined that a large number of Albanian citizens working and living for many in years in Germany will benefit from the social protection agreement.

Around 15,000 Albanian migrants working and living in Germany will be getting their pension benefits and contributions, according to the agreement.

"This is a happy day for all Albanian migrants in Germany. The agreement will enable mutual recognition of the pension rights by both countries," Klosi said.

German State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, Asmussen highlighted that the agreement marks a huge step forward in economic and social cooperation.

During the meeting, Klosi and Asmussen also discussed the possibility of further cooperation in the field of vocational education.
