Οι Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες, ένας από τους βασικούς συμμάχους της χώρας, θα απογοητευτεί με την ανακοίνωση ότι η Μεγάλη Βρετανία «δεν θα εμπλακεί στην υπόθεση», είπε και πρόσθεσε ότι «δεν νομίζω πως η αποχή της Βρετανίας θα έχει ως αποτέλεσμα να σταματήσει οποιαδήποτε δράση».
Το Βρετανικό Κοινοβούλιο απέρριψε με ψηφοφορία την πρόταση του πρωθυπουργού, Ντέιβιντ Κάμερον, για ανάμειξη της χώρας στις ενδεχόμενες στρατιωτικές επιθέσεις στη Συρία, με ψήφους 272 υπέρ και 285 κατά.
«Είναι σαφές ότι το Κοινοβούλιο, το οποίο αντικατοπτρίζει τις επιθυμίες του βρετανικού λαού, δεν θέλει να δει την εμπλοκή της χώρας στις στρατιωτικές δράσεις», είπε ο Κάμερον ενώπιον των βουλευτών. «Το καταλαβαίνω και η κυβέρνηση θα πράξει ανάλογα».
Η Ουάσινγκτον θα συνεχίσει τις διαβουλεύσεις της με τη Βρετανία
Ο αμερικανός πρόεδρος, Μπαράκ Ομπάμα, θα λάβει μια απόφαση σχετικά με την πορεία δράσης των ΗΠΑ στις καταγγελίες για χρήση χημικών όπλων στη Συρία βασιζόμενος στα συμφέροντα των Ηνωμένων Πολιτειών, ωστόσο η Ουάσινγκτον θα συνεχίσει τις διαβουλεύσεις της με τη Βρετανία παρά το γεγονός ότι το Κοινοβούλιο της χώρας ψήφισε κατά μιας ανάμειξης του Ηνωμένου Βασιλείου στις ενδεχόμενες επιθέσεις, αναφέρει το πρακτορείο Ρόιτερς επικαλούμενο σχετική ανακοίνωση του Λευκού Οίκου.
«Είμαστε ενήμεροι για το αποτέλεσμα της ψηφοφορίας του βρετανικού Κοινοβουλίου. Οι ΗΠΑ θα συνεχίσουν τις διαβουλεύσεις με την κυβέρνηση της Βρετανίας – μία χώρα που αποτελεί έναν από τους στενότερούς φίλους και συμμάχους μας», δήλωσε σε ανακοίνωσή της η εκπρόσωπος του Λευκού Οίκου, Κέιτλιν Χέιντεν.
«Η απόφαση του προέδρου Ομπάμα θα παρθεί βάσει του τι είναι καλύτερο για τις ΗΠΑ. Πιστεύει ότι χώρες που παραβιάζουν τα διεθνή πρότυπα σχετικά με τη χρήση χημικών όπλων πρέπει να λογοδοτούν», είπε.

ReplyDeleteThe United States will continue to seek out an international coalition to act together on Syria, US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said on Friday, after Britain's parliament rejected military action.
"It is the goal of President (Barack) Obama and our government ... whatever decision is taken, that it be an international collaboration and effort," Hagel said during a trip to the Philippines, adding that the United States would continue to consult with Britain.
"Our approach is to continue to find an international coalition that will act together. And I think you're seeing a number of countries state, publicly state, their position on the use of chemical weapons."

U.S. lawmakers demand Obama wait for Congress' approval prior attacking Syria...
DeleteWASHINGTON, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- Amid signs the U.S. is ready to attack Syria, 140 members of the U.S. House of Representatives have signed onto a letter, demanding President Barack Obama get authorization of Congress before going ahead with the military strike.
"We strongly urge you to consult and receive authorization from Congress before ordering the use of U.S. military force in Syria. Your responsibility to do so is prescribed in the Constitution and the War Powers Resolution of 1973," said the letter, which is published on the website of the Capitol Hill newspaper The Hill.
"Engaging our military in Syria when no direct threat to the United States exists and without prior congressional authorization would violate the separation of powers that is clearly delineated in the Constitution," noted the letter, which was sponsored by Scott Rigell, a Republican Representative from the state of Virginia.

Hollande bleibt bei Militäreinsatz...
DeleteAuch nach dem Nein des britischen Parlaments besteht Frankreich auf einem Militärschlag gegen Syrien als Bestrafung der Verantwortlichen für den mutmaßlichen Chemiewaffeneinsatz. Er sei für ein harte Strafmaßnahme, sagte Präsident Francois Hollande der Tageszeitung "Le Monde". Es gebe "ein Bündel von Hinweisen", dass die syrische Regierung für den Einsatz am 21. August verantwortlich sei. Dazu werde sein Land eng mit den Verbündeten zusammenarbeiten. Frankreich sei auch ohne Großbritannien zum Handeln bereit.
Am Mittwoch berät das französische Parlament über Syrien. Über einen Militäreinsatz entscheidet in Frankreich allerdings allein der Präsident. Frankreich würde im Falle einer Entscheidung für einen Militäreinsatz zum wichtigsten Bündnispartner für die USA, denn andere westliche Länder wie Deutschland und Kanada haben bereits deutlich gemacht, dass sie eine solche Aktion zwar unterstützen, sich aber nicht direkt an einem Einsatz beteiligen wollen.
Nach der Abstimmungsniederlage im Parlament hatte die britische Regierung versichert, sich nicht an einem Militärschlag zu beteiligen.

Para el presidente de la República, "cada país es soberano y puede decidir participar en la operación o no". Sin embargo, el mandatario galo excluye cualquier ataque antes de la salida de los expertos de la ONU prevista para el sábado por la mañana.
"La masacre con armas químicas de Damasco no puede y no debe quedar impune. De lo contrario, se corre el riesgo de una escalada que podría trivializar el uso de estas armas y amenazar a otros países. Yo no estoy a favor de una intervención internacional que tenga como objetivo liberar Siria o derrocar al dictador, pero creo que se debe frenar a un régimen que está cometiendo lo irreparable sobre la población", explica el actual inquilino del Elíseo.
Para Hollande, "si el Consejo de Seguridad de la ONU es incapaz de actuar, se formará una coalición. Y ésta debería ser lo más amplia posible. Se apoyará en la Liga Árabe que ha condenado el crimen y alertado a la comunidad internacional. Y contará con el apoyo de los europeos. Pero son pocos los países que tienen la capacidad de imponer una sanción con los medios adecuados. Francia es uno de ellos y está preparada para actuar. Syria crisis: Robust response needed, David Cameron says...
ReplyDeleteA "robust response" to the alleged use of chemical weapons in Syria is needed despite UK military involvement being ruled out, the prime minister has said.
David Cameron was defeated in the Commons as MPs rejected a motion on the principle that military action could be required to protect Syrian civilians.
Despite the result of the vote, the US said it would continue to seek a coalition for military intervention.
And France said the vote did not change its resolve about the need to act.

Hague warning on Syria inaction...
ReplyDeleteIt would be an "alarming moment" if military action was not taken over Syrian use of chemical weapons, Foreign Secretary William Hague has said.
MPs voted against intervention after the attack on civilians that the UK and US blames on the Syrian government, but the Assad regime blames on rebels.
The US is trying to gather support for strikes, but no agreement was reached at last week's G20 summit.
Mr Hague said a response was needed to "deter" chemical weapons use.
"I do believe very strongly the world must stand up the use of chemical weapons and there is a debate now taking place in the US Congress," Mr Hague told the BBC's Andrew Marr Show.
"The risks of not doing so in my view are greater than the risks of doing so in a limited, proportionate and careful way."
He added: "If it is decided in the various parliaments of the world that no one will stand up to the use of chemical weapons and take any action about that, that will be a very alarming moment in the affairs of the world."....http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/24007379
