Raqqa liberated next steps: Group from counter-Daesh coalition to meet Nov. 15

Raqqa now liberated
A small group of U.S.-led counter-Daesh coalition personnel will meet next week following the fall of the terror group's twin capitals in Iraq and Syria, the State Department said Thursday.

Brett McGurk, the U.S. president's special envoy to the coalition, will lead an interagency team in Amman, Jordan, for the Nov. 15 meeting "with key members of the Defeat ISIS Coalition", the department said in a statement.

"With Mosul and Raqqa now liberated, this meeting will be an opportunity for Coalition partners to discuss next steps to ensure ISIS is dealt an enduring defeat in Iraq and Syria and ways to accelerate our collective approach to defeat ISIS’s global ambitions," the department said, referring to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, or Daesh.

Discussions on stabilization, foreign fighters, counter-messaging and efforts to combat terrorist financing will be prioritized during the meeting.

The coalition last met on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in September.
