Turkey could suspend EU migrant deal if no progress on visas: Foreign Minister

Turkey could re-evaluate or suspend all agreements under the migrant deal with the European Union if the bloc does not give a positive response on visa-free travel for Turks, Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said Friday.

Désespoir des migrants, mobilisation de l'extrême droite, manque de soutien européen : les ingrédients sont réunis en Grèce pour rendre explosif le cocktail migratoire sur les îles où plus de 16.000 exilés sont bloqués par l'accord UE-Turquie. Après Lesbos et Samos ces dernières semaines, la tension a gagné depuis mercredi l'île de Chios.

Bulgarian Prime Minister Boiko Borissov, disturbed by the danger of a wave of migrants and refugees crossing from Turkey into his country and Greece, has called on European Union leaders to remove visa requirements for Turkish citizens.

Une cinquantaine de migrants dont le bateau s'était échoué ont été secourus vendredi près de Methoni, au sud-ouest du Péloponnèse, sur fond de hausse des arrivées migratoires sur les îles égéennes proches des côtes turques, a indiqué vendredi la police portuaire grecque.
