The president of Armenia, its acting prime minister and other high-ranking government and ecclesiastical authorities officially paid a visit Tuesday to a memorial dedicated to the victims of what has become known as the country's 1915 genocide.

As part of a package of measures aimed to change internal procedural rules of the Turkish parliament, the legislature’s constitutional committee on Thursday approved a provision banning the use of the word “Armenian Genocide” from being used in legislative body.

A Turkish-Armenian member of parliament was temporarily banned from Turkey's National Assembly after he used the term genocide to describe the deaths of Armenians at the hands of the Ottoman Empire a century ago, media reported on Saturday.

Egypt MPs call on parliament to ‎recognise Armenian genocide‎

Independent Egyptian MP Mostafa Bakri said that ‎he and 336 MPs have called on parliament ‎to approve a draft resolution in favour of ‎recognising the death of 1.5 ‎million Armenians at the hands of the Ottoman state in 1915 as a ‎‎"genocide." ‎
