The United Nations announced on Friday that it will review the situation of human rights in the Philippines at the end of this month, a day after the Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte challenged the UN to investigate his violent campaign against drugs.

A witness in a Senate hearing on the extra-judicial killings in the Philippines has testified that he was a member of a death squad in the home city of President Rodrigo Duterte, and that the then-mayor himself ordered the killings of crime and drug suspects as well as the bombing of a mosque in Davao City.

Philippines ignores US concern over Duterte's derogatory remarks on ambassador

The Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on Saturday to address two concerns raised by the US embassy in Manila earlier, but ignored the embassy's concern over President Rodrigo Duterte calling US Ambassador to Manila Philip Goldberg "gay" and "son of a bitch."
