Bulgarian PM says he wants to normalise relations with Russia

Bulgarian Prime Minister Boiko Borissov said on July 1 that he wanted to normalise relations with Russia, which was why he had told Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov to hold talks with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov.

Gazprom considering new gas transit projects in south of Europe — Russia’s FM

Russia's gas giant Gazprom is considering new gas transit projects in south Europe, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Wednesday.

According to the top diplomat, Russia is prepared to fully resume energy cooperation with the European Union, which is hardly possible without Europe’s involvement.

Bulgarian PM proposes creating gas hub on border with Turkey

Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov said on Thursday at a meeting with US Secretary of State John Kerry that he favored the idea of creating a gas hub on the border with Turkey.

Hungary's Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said on Wednesday an alternative gas supply route for Serbia and Hungary could come from Greece through F.Y.R.O.M.

Κασουλίδης: Η Κύπρος ήταν ανέκαθεν αντίθετη με τις ευρωπαϊκές κυρώσεις κατά της Ρωσίας

«Η Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση αλλάζει συνεχώς την προσέγγισή της όσον αφορά στις κυρώσεις κατά της Ρωσίας, στις οποίες ήμασταν από την αρχή κατηγορηματικά αντίθετοι» τόνισε χθες ο κύπριος υπουργός Εξωτερικών Γιαννάκης Κασουλίδης. Σε συνέντευξή του στο ειδησεογραφικό πρακτορείο TASS, ο Κασουλίδης επεσήμανε πως η Λευκωσία ήταν πάντα πολύ προσεκτική και διστακτική απέναντι στην επιβολή αλλά και την αποτελεσματικότητα των κυρώσεων.

FYROM manages to find solution on Russia's pipeline cancellation (FYROM news)

FYROM is trying to find solutions on the alteration of Russia's gas pipeline route, local media reported on Wednesday.

FYROM deputy prime minister Zoran Stavreski said his country was working to find alternatives and the government would soon inform the public on the progress of finding other gas sources.

South Stream pipeline can be built (European Commission). Energy Minister Alexander Novak said Russia’s decision to stop the South Stream gas project is final.

The South Stream project can be implemented, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said on Thursday. South Stream can be built, Juncker said after a meeting with Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov.

Russia Scraps South Stream Gas Project (Gazprom Plans to Build New Black Sea Gas Pipeline to Turkey)

Russia is scrapping its much-touted South Stream gas pipeline project due to EU opposition to it and has no plans to revive it, Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller said Monday.
"The project is closed. This is it," Miller, who accompanies Russian President Vladimir Putin on an official visit to Turkey, told reporters in Ankara.

Η Ε.Ε. Χαιρέτισε την Απόφαση της Βουλγαρίας να Παγώσει το Έργο του South Stream

...Η Ευρωπαϊκή Επιτροπή καλωσόρισε τα νέα από τη Σόφια, σύμφωνα με τα οποία η Βουλγαρία αναστέλλει όλες τις δραστηριότητες στο έργο του South Stream, περιμένοντας τις διαβουλεύσεις με την Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση.

Η Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση, είπε η κ. Χόλζνερ, είναι έτοιμη να συζητήσει με τις βουλγαρικές αρχές για το θέμα, ούτως ώστε να διασφαλιστεί ότι το έργο βρίσκεται σε πλήρη συμμόρφωση με την ευρωπαϊκή νομοθεσία.

F.Y.R.O.M. President Gjorge Ivanov supports the implementation of the South Stream project.

“In the long run, FYROM needs stable sources of power and so the FYROM, like other countries in the region, stands for additional gas supplies as an ecologically clean power resource,” Ivanov said in an exclusive interview with ITAR-TASS on Friday.

“That was the reason behind FYROM’s opting for this project in order to benefit from it, including supplies of additional gas volumes,” he said.

European Commission welcomes Bulgaria’s suspension of work on South Stream

The European Commission (EC) has welcomed the announcement on June 8 that Bulgaria’s prime minister has ordered a halt to work on the South Stream gas pipeline project.

The welcome was expressed by EC spokesperson Sabine Berger, public broadcaster Bulgarian National Television said on June 9, adding that it was “possible” that the question of the project would be discussed at a tripartite meeting scheduled for the evening in Brussels between representatives of Russia, Ukraine and the European Union.
