Yemen’s Houthis said they shot down a US MQ-9 drone that was conducting hostile acts over the airspace of Marib governorate, the Iran-aligned group’s military spokesman Yahya Saree said on Saturday.
The Houthis have waged a campaign against international shipping passing through the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden that they say is in solidarity with Palestinians amid the Israel-Hamas war in the Gaza Strip.
The US cannot confirm reports of the Yemeni Ansar Allah (Houthi) rebel movement’s air defense forces downing a US MQ-9 Reaper scout-attack unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), a US defense official said.
"We are aware of this reporting and currently have received no reports of any DOD assets being downed or damaged," he said.
