Explosions as Russia launches 15th air raid on Kyiv in May (29.05.23)

Several explosions have rocked the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, according to officials, in the 15th Russian air attack on the city this month and the second overnight attack in a row.

“A missile shot down near Kyiv,” Mayor Vitali Klitschko said on the Telegram messaging channel in the early hours of Monday. “Air defence working!”

 He added that blasts were heard in several districts of the city, including Kyiv’s historic neighbourhood of Podil, where falling debris damaged the roof of a house.

According to preliminary information from the mayor and the city’s military administration, there were no casualties in the overnight attacks.

  2. Several infrastructure facilities were damaged in the Kiev Region on Monday night, the head of the regional police department reported.

    Andrey Nebytov wrote on his Telegram channel that there was damage to "infrastructure facilities in several districts of the region."

    At night, an air-raid alert was declared throughout Ukraine. There were reports of explosions in the capital, as well as in the regions of Vinnitsa, Zhitomir, Kiev, Kirovograd, Lvov, Odessa, Poltava and Khmelnitsky. In Odessa, authorities reported damage to port infrastructure and a fire. In Kiev, a fire also broke out in the Svyatoshinsky district.
