Transnistria security officials said in a statement they had foiled “a terror attack... directed by Ukrainian security services, being prepared against a number of officials.”
“The suspects have been detained. They have given confessions,” authorities said.
Transnistrian Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev has not ruled out an appeal to permanent UN Security Council members in connection with the prevention of a terrorist attack against the leadership of the unrecognized republic.
ReplyDeleteEarlier on Thursday, it became known that Transnistrian special services thwarted an assassination attempt against the republic's leader Vadim Krasnoselsky and a number of other officials. Ignatiev earlier said that Transnistria was preparing an appeal to Ukraine and other participants in the ‘5+2’ talks (Moldova, Transnistria, Russia, Ukraine, OSCE and observers from the US and the EU) after the unsuccessful terrorist plot.
"Of course, we have plans to address other levels as well. Perhaps we will address the permanent members of the UN Security Council in order to draw attention to this egregious situation," Ignatiev said during a Rossiya-24 TV broadcast.
