Cabinet approves Lebanon-Israel maritime boundary deal, Lebanese President Michel Aoun signed the agreement

The Israeli cabinet voted in favor of the agreement with Lebanon on maritime boundaries on Thursday, hours before the countries’ negotiators were set to sign the deal.

Prime Minister Yair Lapid said the agreement “strengthens and fortifies Israel's security and our freedom to act against Hezbollah and threats from the north.”

Earlier, Lebanese President Michel Aoun signed the agreement. Beirut’s chief negotiator Elias Bou Saab said it marked the beginning of a "new era.”
