Ukrainian army shells Zaporozhye NPP, striking vicinity of radioactive isotope storage - TASS

Ukraine’s armed forces have shelled the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant with four hits registered near a storage facility of radioactive isotopes, Energodar’s military-civilian administration reported on its Telegram channel on Friday.

"The Ukrainian armed forces have opened artillery fire again at the premises of the Zaporozhye NPP.  Today, four strikes on the Zaporozhye NPP were recorded in the vicinity of the radioactive isotope storage facility. There was no damage to the plant’s infrastructure and key centers. Currently, no contamination has been registered at the power plant. The radiation background is normal," the statement said.

  1. The UN Secretariat’s attempts to ignore the Ukrainian bombardments of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant are unprincipled, according to a commentary by Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova published on Friday.

The diplomat noted highly publicized remarks by Spokesperson for the UN Secretary General Stephane Dujarric over the complex situation at the nuclear facility, which is being continuously shelled by Ukraine.

"As usual, nothing was uttered about the source of threats as represented by the Kiev leadership and the armed formations controlled by it as the entire world is already aware. The UN representative did not have one bit of compassion for the residents of the city of Energodar and the staff of the Zaporozhye NPP who have been living and working under bombardments by Bandera followers for over a month already. All of this seemingly does not exist for the UN Secretariat. There is an impression that the entire time that Ukraine has been shelling the Zaporozhye NPP, the UN Headquarters simply has refused to see the reality. This is an unscrupulous position," she stressed.
