Beijing affirms rejection of Washington’s attempts to impose sanctions on Russian oil – SANA

Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Zhao Lijian reiterated today his country’s firm opposition to US attempts to impose unilateral sanctions on Russian oil supplies to China.

In response to a question by Russia’s TASS about China’s position on Washington’s new moves, Zhao said at a press conference that he categorically rejected such illegal unilateral sanctions.

He noted that the Chinese-Russian relations are based on trade and economic cooperation on the principles of equality, mutual respect and benefit and do not target third parties.

The US Bloomberg Agency had earlier reported that US lawmakers, led by Republican Senator Marco Rubio had proposed imposing sanctions against companies that sell Russian oil and other energy resources to China.
