First Int’l Flight Arrives at Syria’s Lattakia Airport - Tasnim News Agency

The first flight arrived at Lattakia International Airport from Sharjah Airport, after flights from Damascus were diverted to other local airports, Syrian media reported.

The reports added that the decision was made after the Damascus International Airport became non-operational due to a violent air attack by the Israeli regime last week and it will resume normal operations in the near future after rehabilitation and repair works are completed.

Syrian Cham Wings Airlines announced last weekend that it will start operating its first flights from Lattakia Airport to Sharjah International Airport and vice versa, starting from June 21, adding that Lattakia will be connected later with many other stations.

The company stated in a statement that these flights will contribute to serving travelers in Lattakia and the Syrian coast in general, and alleviating the travel trouble and burdens in general, bearing in mind that Cham Wings Airlines will provide free transportation for its passengers between Damascus and Lattakia and vice versa.

In early June, the Damascus airport was targeted by a volley of missiles fired from the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.

A report said that Syrian air defenses had brought down most of the incoming projectiles.

Syria and the Israeli regime are technically at war due to the latter’s 1967-present occupation of the Golan.
