US President Joe Biden’s anti-Russian rhetoric is hampering efforts to resolve the situation in Ukraine through talks, former Brazilian President and current Senator Fernando Collor de Mello said, addressing the parliamentary commission on foreign affairs.

"It seems to me that the US government - through President Biden - is seriously undermining any possibility of bringing the main Western actors, namely NATO members, to the negotiating table. President Biden’s inappropriate, untimely and aggressive statements are in no way helping matters," he pointed out.

According to the politician, the current situation in Ukraine is highly complicated and it’s unlikely that ways to resolve it will be determined in the near future. "I am sure that Brazil will always be ready to assist all those searching for peace and serve as an active mediator to normalize the situation in the region," Fernando Collor de Mello added.
