North Korea's foreign ministry says it rejects the UN Council's adoption of a human rights resolution as a hostile policy and double standards against the regime.
In a statement issued by the North's state media on Sunday, the ministry said it strongly denounces the resolution as a serious violation of the regime's sovereignty, seeking to tarnish its image.
The ministry also criticized the U.S. and western countries for setting double standards, pointing out that they have terrible human rights records on issues such as racism and gun violence.
The statement came after the UN's Third Committee passed a resolution condemning Pyeongyang's human rights violations last Wednesday for the 17th consecutive year.
