Militants Intimidate Civilians as They Relocated from Syria’s Daraa - Tasnim News Agency

(Tasnim) – Anti-government militants attacked the neighborhoods of Daraa city with mortar shells, on Tuesday, in a new attempt to hinder the Russian-brokered relocation process.

Terrorists targeted the districts of Daraa city with mortar shells on Tuesday evening, in an attempt to disrupt all efforts and attempts to cease terrorists' presence in the area and hand over weapons.

A bus was used to relocate the militants from a checkpoint in Daraa al-Balad, a southern district of the provincial capital, which is considered as one of the last strongholds of the militants in the area. Those who are remain in the area are required to hand in their weapons.

Russia which supports the Syrian government brokered the truce after the latest round of clashes in the area.

Syrian Arab News Agency, voicing its reported in Daraa region, reported that several buses entered the Daraa al-Balad area to transport militants who reject the settlement to northern Syria, where thousands of displaced citizens from those areas gathered at the al-Saraya checkpoint, waiting for the militants to leave so they could return to their homes, which they had been forced to leave about a month ago, but the armed groups who have entrenched themselves in Daraa al-Balad had launched several mortar shells at safe neighborhoods in Daraa city, in a new attempt to intimidate the residents and hinder the exit process.

On Monday night, terrorist groups launched about 14 mortar shells at al-Kashef neighborhood, the industrial zone, the fire brigade and the Gharaz area, causing material damage to homes and infrastructure, they also targeted some Syrian Arab Army checkpoints with machine guns.

Meanwhile, the Syrian army sent strong military reinforcements to Daraa on Tuesday morning, including a convoy of tanks, heavy artillery, and troop transport vehicles, to put an end to the city's unusual situation and restore peace and safety.

The army units had opened the al-Saraya corridor for people seeking to flee terrorist-controlled areas to Daraa al-Mahata, and the government had set up a makeshift housing center with various basic supplies and materials to accept them.
