Armenia: Embattled prime minister announces snap elections s | Al Jazeera

Armenia will hold snap elections in June, the embattled prime minister announced on Thursday, after months of anti-government protests sparked by his handling of last year’s Nagorno-Karabakh conflict with neighbouring Azerbaijan.

Nikol Pashinyan said in a statement posted on Facebook that the vote will take place on June 20, adding the decision to hold an early election followed talks with Armenia’s opposition parties and the president.
