La presidenta de la Cámara de Representantes de EEUU, Nancy Pelosi, considera que es hora de aplicar la "vigésimo quinta Enmienda" de la Constitución de Estados Unidos "por acto de sedición" y ha afirmado que si eso no sucede, el Congreso puede proceder a iniciar un proceso de ‘impeachment’.
“Me uno al líder demócrata del Senado para pedirle al vicepresidente que destituya a este presidente invocando de inmediato la 25ª Enmienda
Si el vicepresidente y el gabinete no actúan, el Congreso puede estar preparado para seguir adelante con un ‘impeachment’", ha asegurado en una rueda de prensa, recogida por CNN.
Pelosi ha hecho estas declaraciones después de que el líder demócrata en el Senado, Chuck Schumer, pidiera al vicepresidente que invocase de inmediato la Enmienda 25.

Bajo esa enmienda, si el vicepresidente y la mayoría de los secretarios del Gabinete concluyen que el presidente es "incapaz de cumplir con los poderes y deberes de su cargo", pueden formularlo por escrito ante los líderes del Congreso.

Una vez que lo hagan y formulen por escrito ante los líderes del Congreso, las funciones presidenciales se delegan automáticamente en el vicepresidente, Mike Pence, hasta la toma de posesión del presidente electo.
DeleteSi el presidente objeta esta decisión, será el Congreso del que dependerá la destitución. Hacen falta dos tercios de los votos tanto de la Cámara de Representantes como del Senado para que el vicepresidente se quede con las funciones presidenciales.

Pelosi adds that Democrats are contacting her, demanding another attempt to remove Trump from office.
More than 60 people have been arrested and investigations are under way after the violent invasion of the US Congress in Washington DC on Wednesday.
