I leaderi dell'UE potrebbero discutere le potenziali sanzioni contro la Turchia per le sue azioni nel Mediterraneo orientale a dicembre, ha detto giovedì il ministro degli esteri tedesco Heiko Maas.
Il ministro degli Esteri turco Mevlut Cavusoglu ha dichiarato a settembre che non si aspettava che l'UE sanzionasse la Turchia per le controversie marittime con Grecia e Cipro e che il blocco europeo non ha una posizione unificata sulla questione.
La sua dichiarazione arriva dopo che il vertice dei sette paesi mediterranei dell'Unione europea (EU-Med) ha espresso pieno sostegno e solidarietà a Cipro e Grecia di fronte alle azioni provocatorie della Turchia e ha anche proposto di espandere le sanzioni contro Ankara.

The EU leaders could discuss potential sanctions against Turkey over its actions in Eastern Mediterranean in December, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said Thursday.
