Le "non" à l'indépendance de la Nouvelle-Calédonie est arrivé en tête, dimanche 4 octobre, selon les résultats provisoires complets de ce deuxième référendum d'autodétermination. L'archipel a dit "non" à 53,26 %. La consultation a été marquée par un taux de participation record, estimé à près de 86 %, soit une hausse de cinq points par rapport à 2018. Le "non" l'avait à l'époque emporté avec 56,7 % des voix.

New Caledonia has voted against breaking away from France, according to full provisional results. Support for independence in the South Pacific island territory is growing but is still not strong enough to secure full autonomy.
ReplyDeleteThose opposed to independence prevailed with 53.26 percent of the vote, compared to the 46.74 percent who wanted New Caledonia to become a sovereign nation, France’s overseas ministry said.
About 54.1 percent of voters in the French South Pacific territory of New Caledonia spoke on Sunday against the independence from France, the Nouvelle-Calédonie la 1ère broadcaster reported, citing preliminary results after processing 155,000 out of 180,000 ballots.
