Syria: 'Israel attacked stockpiles of Iranian missiles'

Syrian media reported on Tuesday evening that a number of explosions were heard south of the Syrian capital, Damascus.


According to some of the reports, Israeli planes that missiles at Iranian targets near Damascus.

The official Syrian news agency reported that Syrian air defense systems had destroyed two Israeli missiles south of the capital.

Earlier on Tuesday evening, the IDF asked authorities in the Golan Heights to open and prepare missile shelters over "irregular activity by Iranian forces in Syria", across the demarcationline.

"Following the identification of irregular activity of Iranian forces in Syria, the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) has decided to change the civilian protection instructions in the Golan Heights and instructs local authorities to unlock and ready shelters in the area," the army said in a statement.

At the same time, the Education Ministry decided to cancel all school trips to the Golan Heights, following the tension on the northern border.

Israel believes Tehran is getting ready to strike the Jewish State in retaliation for the April 9 bombardment of Syria’s T4 airbase, in which seven Iranian military advisers and Iranian Revolutionary Guard members were killed. IDF didn’t acknowledge its responsibility for the attack, but Iran holds Israel as the guilty party.
