Russia Says Possible to Discuss JCPOA’s Future without US

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said Tuesday it was possible to discuss the future of the 2015 nuclear deal between Tehran and world powers without the participation of the United States, a report said.

Ryabkov also said it would be impossible to preserve the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) without Tehran making concessions, the Interfax news agency reported.

He added that the US decision on Iran was "rash" amid nuclear talks regarding the Korean peninsula.

In a speech from the White House last week, US President Donald Trump accused Iran of sponsoring terrorism and seeking nukes before announcing the US withdrawal from the nuclear deal.

Following the controversial decision, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said Iran weighs plans to remain in the agreement with the other five parties, namely Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany, provided that the remaining JCPOA parties ensure its full benefits for Iran.
