Militants attack border guards camp in Indian-controlled Kashmir

Indian-controlled Kashmir
In a predawn attack, militants on Tuesday entered a camp of Border Security Force (BSF) in restive Indian-controlled Kashmir, police said.

The gunmen believed to be fidayeen (suicide attackers) militants indiscriminately used gunfire while making their entry into the border guards camp near the Indian air force station at Srinagar city, the summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir.

According to police officials, three to four militants are suspected to have entered the camp using heavy gunfire.

"Militants are said to have sneaked inside the camp premises at around 3:45 a.m (local time) today," a police official said. "There is heavy gunfire underway inside the camp and details will be shared once the gunmen are contained."

Reports said the army had used helicopters in the area to take on militants.
