No stance yet on civilians killed by the US-led coalition in Syria: UN

The Secretary-General has always been worried about the Syrian civilians' condition and their lives
The UN Secretary-General has not taken stance on Syria's protest to the civilians killed in US-led coalition raids, a spokesman said.

Answering a question about the UN stance on the Syrian government's letter in protest to the civilians toll of US-led coalition, Stephane Dujjaric told the reporter of Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), the Syrian government in a letter to the Secretary-General on Auguest 16 expressed its concerns over the rising civilians tolls of the coalition's blind attacks in Raqqa and other Syrian cities, and urged the body to take due measures on the incident.

The Syrian state-run news agency (SANA) reported on August 17 that the US-led coalition ariplanes targeted residential neighborhoods in Raqqa killing 17 innocent civilians.

Raqqa is under control of the terrorist group Daesh (ISIS).

  • The UN has yet to take a position with regard to the letter, as it has to be distributed among the UN Security Council members, then the issue would be discussed, he added.

  • The Secretary-General has always been worried about the Syrian civilians' condition and their lives, said the spokesman.

However, it seems that the international body does not attach enough significance to the dire situation of Syrian civilians targeted by the coalition raids to hold an emergency meeting to explore the killings. Meanwhile, the number of civilian victims of the blind attacks on Syrian towns and cities is increasing.

The [so-called] "Syrian Observatory for Human Rights" said that the US-led coalition strikes on Sunday killed 27 civilians, including seven children, in the same city.

Syria has been struggling with a war that started in 2011 by extremist groups and is going on by certain states supports for such groups.
