Libyan forces warn ISIL is regrouping

the port city of Misrata
Libyan forces allied to the UN-backed government in Tripoli have warned that fighters from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, also known as ISIS) group are regrouping and could launch attacks on the port city of Misrata.

The armed group is said to be operating in the countryside after being forced out of the coastal city of Sirte last year.

Six years on from the ousting of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, much of the country remains lawless and in financial ruin.
