Taliban Seizes Control of District in Northern Afghanistan

The Taliban, a fearsome internationally-condemned terrorist movement which has shocked the world with its human rights violations, has established control of a district in Afghanistan's northern province of Kunduz after two days of clashes, local media reported Saturday.

The Islamists attacked the Qala-I-Zal district in Kunduz on Friday morning and were able to occupy it on Saturday, the broadcaster TOLOnews reported, citing a member of the provincial council.

The news outlet added that authorities could not specify the number of casualties in the attack so far.
