Police name Manchester suicide bombing suspect: 22-year-old Salman Abedi

The suicide bomber who attacked a concert in Manchester, killing 22 and injuring 59 people, has been named as 22-year-old Salman Abedi, a police official said on Tuesday.

Greater Manchester Police's Chief Constable Ian Hopkins mentioned Abedi in a press conference, although he declined to confirm his formal identification.

Suspected Manchester bomber Salman Abedi was born in Manchester in 1994 to parents of Libyan birth, US officials said, citing British intelligence officials.

His parents emigrated to London before moving to the Fallowfield area of Manchester where they lived for at least ten years.
