Trump reserves right to respond to North Korea without China's help

The President of the United States on Sunday said that he is "totally" ready to act against nuclear threats by North Korea without China's help, if necessary, just days before his scheduled meeting with his Chinese counterpart.

"If China is not going to solve North Korea, we will. That is what I am telling you," Donald Trump said in an interview with UK publication Financial Times published on Sunday in its online edition.

When asked if he believed that the US could deal with that threat without China's help, Trump responded with one word: "Totally."

Trump on Thursday and Friday will hold his first meeting with President Xi Jinping, whom he will welcome to his Mar-a-Lago country club in southeastern Florida.
