Belgium believes only a political solution can resolve the Syrian conflict, Foreign Minister Didier Reynders told Le Soir.


He urged European partners to prevent further escalation and called on the EU to provide dialogue between Russia and the US.

Reynders didn’t condemn the unilateral US missile strike, but called for an investigation into the alleged use of chemical weapons in Idlib province.

However, he blamed the Syrian government for the attack, claiming that Assad cannot remain in power after such actions.
