285,000 people displaced from west Mosul of Iraq: UN agency

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said Tuesday that 285,000 people have been displaced from west Mosul as the fighting continues.


"This brings the number of people from Mosul, both east and west, who are currently in displaced to 355,000," Stephane Dujarric, spokesman for the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, said at the daily news briefing.

Since the start of military operation in Mosul last October, 446,000 people have been displaced from Mosul, he said, adding that some 91,000 have since returned to eastern Mosul and surrounding areas.
