Indian firing kills two Pakistani girls: army

The Pakistani Army said on Saturday that unprovoked Indian firing across the Line of Control (LoC) killed two girls.


"Two girls were martyred and three persons injured in unprovoked firing by the Indian troops in Singhala Village of Khoi Ratta along the Line of Control," the Inter-Services Public Relations said in a statement.

"The Pakistani troops have befittingly responded to the Indian aggression," the statement said.

Meanwhile, Foreign Office spokesperson Nafees Zakaria strongly condemned unprovoked firing by the Indian troops. He said the slain girls were aged 4 and 7 years old.

The two countries had declared ceasefire along the LoC and working boundary in 2003. However, escalation has been seen between the bitter neighbors since militants attacked an army base in the Indian-controlled Kashmir in September, which left 19 Indian soldiers dead.

The Indian side blamed a Pakistan-base militant group for the attack, but Islamabad rejected the accusation as groundless.
